Report: Spurs are interested in signing a former Chelsea centre-back
Fichajes.net have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur hold an interest in Barcelona centre-back Andreas Christensen ahead of the summer transfer window.
Christensen moved to Barcelona on a free transfer last summer after his contract with Chelsea ran out and the defender has impressed in his first season at Catalonia.
According to Fichajes.net, despite the Dane playing at a ‘very high level’ since his switch to the club, he might be on his way out, just 12 months on from making the move.
This is because Barca have to raise funds through player sales to balance the books and have identified Christensen as a player that they could sacrifice.
The report states that the 27-year-old could return to the Premier League as Tottenham have now come forward with an interest in the centre-back.
It is explained that Spurs have a good relationship with Barcelona on the back of the Clement Lenglet loan deal and that the North London club could make use of that to strike a deal for Christensen.
Spurs Web Opinion
While Barca would have to sell some of their assets, I doubt they would consider selling Christensen, given the level at which the centre-back has played this season.
I also doubt if the Dane would want to come to Spurs, particularly since we are not likely to be in the Champions League.
