On Thursday (20th April) Joe O’Brien and his Super Senior team headed to our neighbours, Delgany in the second round of the competition having beaten Woodbrook 4-1 in the first match of the campaign. The team worked hard to get a draw, 2 1/2 to 2 1/2 and now sit just behind Wicklow, both having played two matches. Wicklow have seven points while we have six and a half. Next up for Joe and his team are Wicklow, which will be played next month.
Following up on this good result, Pat O’Dowd’s Best Cup team faced Ashbourne this afternoon (Friday 21st). Pat’s men had home advantage, with three matches in Greystones but faced a tough afternoon nonetheless.
Away from home, both pairings of Quentin Teggin & Jim Kinsella and Joe Grennan & Martin McNulty lost narrowly on the eighteenth however while the lads were battling away in Ashbourne, the home team were turning on the style.
George Hughes & Pat Tracey won on the seventeenth while Kishor Borkhtaria & Barry Walsh finished their match on the fifteenth. Performance of the day however goes to Jimmy Hempenstall & Emmet O’Brien who finished their match on the eleventh by a whopping margin of 9&7.
