Aaron Carter's Cause of Death Revealed, Ex-Fiancee Melanie Martin Says Autopsy Results Don't Make Sense

Aaron Carter tragically died at the age of 34 back in November 2022 and now his cause of death has been released.

At the time of his death, he was found in a bathtub at his home and one major cause was ruled out back in January.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner released its findings from the autopsy on Tuesday (April 18) and Aaron‘s ex-fiancee Melanie Martin released a statement in which she said the results don’t make sense.

The medical examiner said, “On the morning of November 5, 2022, Mr. Carter was found submerged in the bathtub at his residence, located in Lancaster, by his reported housekeeper who called 911 and was instructed to begin CPR. Paramedics were called to the location and Mr. Carter was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:14 a.m.”

The report said that he became “submerged” in the tub after “inhalation of compressed gas and intake of alprazolam.”

The official cause of death is drowning and contributing effects were “difluoroethane, a flammable gas that is often used as the propellant in cans of compressed air, and alprazolam, a generic form of Xanax,” according to Page Six.

Aaron‘s death was ruled an accident.

Melanie told TMZ, “The results of the autopsy are not closure for me. It claims death is by drowning but also adds he was wearing a t-shirt and necklace in the bathtub which doesn’t make sense, why would he be in a bathtub with clothes on? I am still in shock and still miss Aaron every day. I don’t understand the chain of events and this report only has us asking more questions.”

Melanie had lost custody of her and Aaron‘s son back in September 2022, but she regained custody one month after his death.
