A Tennessee angler has shattered a state record with the recent catch of a 149-pound paddlefish at Cherokee Lake.
Henry Dyer of Kingston snagged the behemoth paddlefish, which measured nearly 80 inches and boasted a girth of 44-3/8 inches.
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency did not provide further details in its “BIG FISH ALERT!” issued Tuesday morning via social media.

The previous state record for paddlefish, established at Cherokee Lake in 2022, was 120 pounds.
