Reward of £10,000 to find fugitive after teen was ‘murdered in bungled hit’

A £10,000 reward has been offered for help finding a businessman who fled the UK after allegedly ordering a bungled hit that killed a 17-year-old.

Mohammed Ali Ege, 42, has been on the run for 13 years after he escaped from police while on trial for the death of A-Level pupil Aamir Siddiqi.

The youngster was stabbed to death at his home in Roath, Cardiff, on April 11, 2010, when he went to greet who he thought was his Koran teacher.

But Aamir ended up opening the door to Ben Hope, 40, and Jason Richards, 39, who had been hired to kill one of Ege’s property deal rivals, Swansea Crown Court heard previously.

The pair killed the wrong person and were convicted of murder. They are currently serving 40-year prison sentences.

Ege fled the country but was arrested in 2013 in India, where he was kept in custody while awaiting extradition.

He managed to escape on the way to a court hearing in 2017 after he told police he needed to use the toilet at a train station and jumped out of the window.

Yesterday was the 13th anniversary of Aamir’s death, and South Wales Police used the sad day to renew calls for help finding Ege by offering a £10,000 reward.

The force said: ‘Although two men have been convicted of his murder, and continue to serve life sentences in prison, we remain as committed as ever to tracing and arresting Ege.’

Aamir’s parents, Iqbal Ahmad and Parveen, said previously: ‘He was our loving, funny, intelligent and generous child who was about to embark on the next phase of his life at university.

‘His friends have become wonderful adults, they have travelled, have jobs and some are married.

‘Our son was deprived of these things and we mourn his loss every day.’

At the time of Hope and Richards’ conviction, the judge called them ‘staggeringly incompetent’.

He told the pair: ‘You two came in, wearing balaclavas and making a terrible wailing sound. Your attack on him was brutal, savage, callous and cruel.’
