BEFORE you get your next manicure there are five styles you might just want to steer clear of.
According to one fashion and elegance expert they’re the tackiest designs you could go for, not to mention cheap-looking.
Neon colours a big no-no, according to the fashion pro[/caption] Nail art might also look more tacky than you realise[/caption]It might be tempting to go for bright colours, especially in summer, but that’s the last thing you should do, Amira Bessette said.
But there’s one thing worse than bright colours, and that’s neon.
Sure, the might enhance your summer tan and be a nice change from all the burgundy and red shades a lot of people go for over winter, but that doesn’t stop them from being tacky.
Charms and crystals are bang on trend right now too, but Amira told beauty fans on TikTok to avoid them at all costs.
The problem for the elegance pro seemed to be that the gems don’t look very expensive, unlike more subtle styles.
That said, Amira said one small tiny crystal as an accent could be ok if you really can’t pass on a bit of extra sparkle.
For the same reason, excessive nail art is also a big no-no, even trendy designs like swirls and colour blocking are included in Amira’s banned list.
And for those of us who maybe don’t get our nails done as often as we’d like, it might be better to go au naturale instead because chipped polish is the worst of the worst.
She showed a picture of short nails with chipped black polish to emphasise her point, and some beauty fans agreed with her on this one.
“Chipped nails is so true. Disgusting,” one slammed.
On the complete opposite end of the scale, extra long acrylic nails are just as bad – and they’re even worse if you include any other the other ‘tacky’ designs like gems or nails art.
“I started getting gel manicures instead of acrylics and my nails are so strong and long,” one TikTok user commented.
“I’m still wearing extended nails with crystals, another said.
