SUMMERLIN, Nevada Jonathan Quick sat in the division-leading Golden Knights morning meetings Thursday, watching video of the opposition, one of the teams they are trying to fend off for the Pacific Division title.
Were watching clips on them and its the first time doing video about L.A., and in some of the clips, Im in net, on the other side, Quick told SCNG after the skate at City National Arena. Its different, right?
Yes, very.
But there wont be an appealing revenge narrative, at least not Thursday night at T-Mobile Arena. Quick, the all-time winningest goalie in Kings history, wont be starting against his former teammates. Laurent Brossoit will get the nod against the Kings, said Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy, who told Quick and Brossoit of the decision Wednesday night.
Quick was the consummate team player in his 16 seasons with the Kings, which included two Stanley Cup championships. That personality trait has not changed with the trade to Vegas from Columbus in March, one day after
the Kings dealt Quick to the Blue Jackets for two draft picks and defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov and goalie Joonas Korpisalo.
LB is playing some great hockey right now, Quick said of Brossoit. Look, obviously, Id want to get the start against those guys. But we have four, five games left and were fighting with them for a playoff (position). LB is playing some great hockey and youve got to do what you think is best for the team.

Respect the decision and try to help him out and do whatever I can to help him out and help this team out.
Quick has appeared in nine games with Vegas starting eight times and is 5-2-1 with a 3.43 goals-against average and .895 save percentage. Brossoit has started seven games this season with the Golden Nights and has yet to lose in regulation (4-0-3) with a 2.50 GAA and .918 save percentage.
