I’m a former Boots worker – here’s the weirdest request a customer made… it was SO awkward
A FORMER Boots worker has revealed the weirdest request she received off a customer – and it was seriously awkward.
The anonymous ex-customer service assistant says she left the beauty retailer with some hilarious tales as well as experience.
While employed by the Brit chain, she had a string of memorable encounters with customers.
But there is one that sticks out in the woman’s mind as “the funniest story” from her time at Boots.
Detailing the cringe-worthy run-in on TikTok, she set the scene by explaining it was when Covid first got a grip on the country.
The woman said: “It was the start of the pandemic, so there were hardly any customers in. It was mostly just workers.
“This little old lady, she must have been about 80 I reckon, came in with her little walking stick hobbling along.
“Her husband who must have been about the same age was like walking slowly behind her and she asked me a question.”
Instead of a simple conversation, the former Boots worker became embroiled in a nightmare exchange with the shopper.
She continued: “Because we were wearing masks at this point, I couldn’t really hear what she was saying.”
The woman explained she didn’t understand the elderly customer’s request, who again repeated her question.
The ex-employee recalled: “So she said it louder – and she basically ended up screaming at me.
“Not like mean screaming just like speaking really loudly because I just could not understand it.
“So my mum, who I worked with at the time, came over to see what was going on.”
She quickly debriefed her mum on their communication struggle, before the pensioner again repeated herself.
The ex-staff member added: “So the woman says it one more time at the top of her lungs and it clicks what she’s asking me – as my mum’s standing there as well.
“She’s saying, ‘I’m looking for the gel that makes your willy go hard.'”
The woman says she could barely believe her ears after finally getting a grasp of what the pensioner was hunting for.
She laughed: “Look, there ain’t a gel that makes your willy go hard – it’s either tablets or lube.
“I just directed her to the pharmacy.
“The fact that this like 80-year-old woman came in with her husband asking for Viagra essentially and then like screaming at me because I couldn’t understand it. Get it grandma!”
