I got Turkey teeth but it was a big mistake – I’ve now got a lisp and can’t close my mouth properly, please don’t do it
A WOMAN has taken to social media to warn people about the dangers of getting crowns done abroad.
The blonde-haired woman, named Emma, who posts on TikTok under the username @littlemisscrazy89, took to the video sharing platform to open up about her dental journey.
She is just one of many who have jetted off to Turkey to get their teeth done, in a trend that has been dubbed “Turkey teeth”.
The TikTok hashtag “#TurkeyTeeth” has even reached more than 130 million views.
Several reality TV influencers and celebrities have also had veneers done, including former Love Island star Jack Fincham and Katie Price.
The procedure of having crowns done can be aggressive and invasive to teeth – as they require almost 70% of your teeth to be filed down.
But while many will proudly show off their new diamond white smile, this woman is warning people about the realities of the procedure.
In one clip, Emma showed off her natural teeth, as she said: “Before I made a bad decision to get Turkey teeth.”
Emma then shared a follow-up video, as she warned others about the “truth” of getting teeth done in Turkey.
She revealed that she has now got a lisp since having the crowns and not only can she not close her mouth properly, but she has got awful pain in her jaw too.
She explained: “I wanted to talk to you about getting your teeth done in Turkey.
“I had really, really, good teeth, they were actually alright, I just didn’t like the bottom ones because they were a bit gappy and whatever and they weren’t pure, pure white so I wanted to get it done.
“I had always hated my teeth, even though they were nice, but I just wanted that Hollywood smile.
“What I’m going to say to you is, if you have good teeth, I would not do it.
“Obviously since I’ve been back my bite is way off, when I eat, it’s sore.
“I’ve actually got a lisp now, which is bad.
“The whole experience was horrific, from start to finish.
“I’ve actually now got to find a dentist, which is really difficult because they won’t touch anything that was done over there and let’s face it, the dentists over here hate these teeth and they always tell you not to do it and stuff like that and I wish I listened.
“I can’t fully close my mouth, it’s so bad.
“When I’m chewing I’ve got a shooting pain going up here [jaw], it is just awful.
“I just think, if you are going to go and do it, I would really, really think about it.
“As soon as I was in the chair, I regretted my decision.
“Trust me, you probably will have issues in the future and the UK dentists won’t touch you, so just keep that in mind.”
Emma’s video has clearly shocked many, as it has quickly racked up a whopping 47.7k views.
Many social media users were thankful to Emma for opening up and being honest about her teeth.
One person said: “Thank you, was going to go over but all I hear is more bad than good.”
Another added: “Good for u, telling truth ”
A third commented: “Oh I’m sorry you’ve had this experience. I’m glad you’re making people aware I’ve just had mine done here as I had a bad experience previously too.”
Meanwhile, others pointed out that Emma didn’t even need crowns in the first place.
One user noted: “Your teeth were already perfect.”
Whilst a second posted: “You never needed them done.”
