WhatsApp is extending media sharing limit on iOS: Here’s what we know

WhatsApp is an arguably one of the most popular messaging apps on the planet. The company has been consistently adding new features and functionalities to its platform. Now, word is that the Meta-owned messaging app is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow users to share up to 100 media within the chats on the company’s iOS-based app.

But there is a caveat. At the moment, this feature is being rolled out to users of the company’s iOS beta app only. “With the new feature, beta users can now select up to 100 media in the media picker within the application, which was earlier limited to only 30,” WABetaInfo reported.

As of now, users can share up to 30 images and videos, which automatically get converted into an album on the platform. While this does give users flexibility to users to share a bunch of images at once, it still feels limiting especially when the images in hundreds, say images from an event or a trip. Now, the new feature will make it possible for users to share an entire album at once.

As per the report, the ability to share up to 100 media within the chats is available for some beta testers after installing the latest update of WhatsApp beta for iOS from TestFlight app and is expected to roll out to more people over the coming days.

But, what about Android?

It is worth noting that the details come almost a week after another report said that the messaging platform was rolling out this feature on its Android beta app as well.

That said, while we know that the Meta-owned messaging app has started developing this functionality for both its Android and iOS app, there is no word on when the company will officially roll out this feature to its users in the main app on Android and iOS.

Share high-quality images

Additionally, the company is also working on a feature that will let users manage photo quality in the app. As of now, WhatsApp compresses the images before sharing. But this feature will let users to send photos in their original quality. As of now, this feature is being developed for Android and Desktop users.
