AMERICAN mixed martial artist Justin Gaethje got a taste for the sport in university.
Having wrestled UFC fighters during his time at the University of Northern Colorado, Gaethje knew instantly the career path he wanted to follow.
Justin Gaethje was born on November 14, 1988.
The 34-year-old fighter grew up in Safford, Arizona.
He has a Mexican mother and his father is German.
Gaethje fights out of Arvada, Colorado.
Justin Gaethje is not married and it is not known who he is dating as he keeps his personal life to himself.
Outside of the octagon, when not training, he enjoys playing golf and spending time with his family.
He is known in the sport for his hard punches and devastating leg kicks.
The American mixed martial artist is currently ranked fifth in the UFC lightweight division although he has held the number one spot previously.
Since joining the UFC competition Gaithje boasts a record of 23 wins, 4 losses and 0 draws.
19 of his wins have come by way of knockout.
Amazingly, the American underwent a photorefractive keratectomy in 2016 to correct his sight.
Gaethje spoke about his need for the surgery and said “I used to be blind. I had horrible vision.
“I was 20/60 in one eye and 20/200 in another eye. And I was far sighted in one eye and near-sighted in another eye.”
Dan Hardy told “Inside the Octagon” that prior to the surgery Gaethje’s eyesight was so bad that he had to physically be in contact with his opponent to know what he was punching.
It is thought that his net worth is in the region of $4m.
