AN ALDI superfan has taken to TikTok to test the supermarket’s dupe for the viral Elemis Cleansing Balm – and is encouraging her followers to run to get their hands on it.
Content creator @lux_island regularly shares plus-size fashion and beauty tips with her 30,000 followers.
In a new video, she shares her first impressions of Aldi’s latest beauty release – the Lacura Cleansing Balm, currently priced at £6.99.
Online, beauty fans have speculated what this could be a dupe for, with some suggesting it’s the popular Elemis Cleansing Balm, costing £46.
Others think it may be the Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm, priced at £47.
In a new video, the TikTokker shared her first impressions of the bargain dupe and compared it to the Elemis oil-based cleanser that she admits to using on a daily basis.
She said: “So you’ve got the Elemis, and then you’ve got the Aldi Cleansing Balm.
“Now a lot of people are saying this is possibly a dupe for the Elemis or the Emma Hardie cleansing balm. We’re not quite sure at this point.
“I have googled it and it has said Emma Hardie but who knows, let’s just give it a go.
“Looking inside to compare the two…the Elemis one is very spa-smelling.
“If you’ve got the Elemis one, or you’ve smelt the Elemis one, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. It is lit.
“The Aldi one actually smells like Bobbi Brown Face Base. That is the smell. Stunning.”
Holding up the Elemis one again, she adds: “This is a lot more intense.”
“Right, let’s try it on.
“Right so it’s exactly the same texture as the Elemis.
“It feels a lot thinner actually, it doesn’t feel as thick as the Elemis.
“Oh my god, it smells incredible. Oh my lord, oh wow. Yeah, this smells like Face Base. This is stunning.
“I haven’t got a lot of makeup on anyway, I don’t tend to wear a lot of makeup but I just love cleansing my skin.
“It feels so nice, like it’s so, so nice. Again, it doesn’t feel as thick as the Elemis, but it still feels very nourishing, my skin feels lovely with it on.
“Right, let’s go get a hot towel and take this off.”
After cleaning her face with a hot flannel, she adds: “Do you know what, honestly, for £6.99, compared to these £45, £50 cleansers, that is an absolute steal.
“If you haven’t got it, honestly, run.”
Fans loved the content creator’s honesty, with the video gaining more than 1,300 likes and 75,000 views.
In the comments, her followers shared their reactions, with one writing: “I have had both and I really prefer the Aldi one. I’ve waited forever for it to come back in. I bought 4 tubs today.”
Another said: “I’ve totally gone full-on Aldi face care. I’m refusing to pay £100’s for something Aldi does better.”
A third added: “Literally just back from an Aldi trip and NOW I see this. Back tomorrow I go!”
Someone else put: “I’ve just bought it it’s more oily than the Elemis.”
