Rolex 24 Hours, Hours 13 & 14: Attrition Bites

Into the second half of the race and another retirement was confirmed with the #62 Risi Competizione Ferrari from GTD PRO calling it a day after floor damage following earlier contact, the issue sounding similar to the cause for the early bath for Cetilar Racing.

Also out of the race after stopping on circuit in the hands of Dakota Dickerson, was the #36 Andretti Autosports Ligier (pictured top).

And almost immediately afterwards the retirement was confirmed too of the #42 NTE/ SSR Lamborghini, a split oil tank the final blow, eight official retirements now confirmed with the #43 MRS GT Ligier set to make it nine, the car in its garage and abandoned after the earlier fire.

In GTP, The #60 Meyer Shank Racing Acura continues to lead the race the team reporting that they are managing the ongoing oil leak.

Helio Castroneves has a 25 second gap to Nick Tandy’s #6 Porsche 963 with the trio of Cadillacs led by Pipo Derani in the #31 Action Express car, 20 or so seconds back and on the lead lap.

The #24 BMW is just off the lead lap with the #10 Acura two laps down and the delayed #7 Porsche gradually making its way through the LMP2 field but still 17 laps down on the overall leader.

In LMP2, Paul-Loup Chatin took the class lead in the last few minutes of the 14th hour, his #52 PR1 Mathiasen Oreca lets Julien Canal in the #88 AF Corse car with the #35 TDS Racing and #04 Crowdstrike racing cars both still on the class lead lap.

LMP3 has seen the most attrition and now has a lead group of just three cars, the #17 AWA Duqueine leads the race ahead of the #33 Sean Creech Motorsport Ligier, these two the only cars on the lead lap.

Third and two laps astray is the #87 FastMD Racing Duqueine with the #85 JDC-Miller Duqueine a further three laps back.

13 GTD and GTD PRO cars share the same racing lap with the Pro class led by the #79 Weathertech Racing AMG, fending off the #3 Corvette, those two Pro class runners ahead of the GTD class leading #27 Heart of Racing Aston Martin which, in turn, leads the sister GTD PRO car.

The #57 Winward Racing AMG and #44 Magnus Racing Aston Martin complete the top three in GTD.
