Fabrizio Romano provides update on Nicolo Zaniolo situation amid Spurs links
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Bournemouth sent representatives to Rome to convince Nicolo Zaniolo to make the switch to the Vitality Stadium but the winger still prefers Tottenham or AC Milan instead.
The print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (25/01/23 via Sport Witness) suggested on Wednesday that Tottenham’s pursuit of Zaniolo was still alive despite the North London club snapping up Arnaut Danjuma on loan.
This information was also backed up by Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth who told The Last Word on Spurs YouTube channel on Thursday that Spurs’ pursuit of the Roma star was independent of their interest in Danjuma.
CalcioMercato reported a couple of days ago that Bournemouth had submitted an offer for Zaniolo and despite the bid being to the Giallorossi’s liking, the 23-year-old turned down the move as he wanted to join a ‘top club’.
Romano has now taken to social media to reveal that members of the Cherries board even travelled to the Italian capital to convince the attacker but their efforts were in vain.

I wonder if Spurs will potentially test Roma’s resolve with another late loan-to-buy offer for Zaniolo over the next few days.
If Lucas Moura and Bryan Gil were both to depart over the coming days, then there is a chance of Tottenham reigniting their interest in the 23-year-old.
However, I suspect that the most likely scenario is that one of Gil or Moura will stay, and Porro and Danjuma will be our only two new additions this window.
