The Ranchi district health department on Saturday said it will direct all hospitals nursing homes and medical establishments to properly implement the Clinical Establishment Act, particularly on the fire safety provisions. Ranchi civil surgeon Dr. Vinod Kumar said "every hospital in the city will get instructions pertaining to firesafety norms as part of the Clinical Establishment Act, the act mandates proper firesafety mechanism in every area of a healthcare centre to perform fire audits of the hospitals a team is already in place on Monday, where we will send the direction to all hospitals to follow by the standards set by act." When Toi visited a few private and government hospitals during the day, most of them were found to have installed firefighting tools at the Nagarmal Modi Seva Sadan Hospital located in the busy Upper Bazar area near the Bada Talab fire extinguishers and firefighting equipment were found to be in order on every floor and in the wards. "The extinguishers were last replenished in 2022 and the next refill is scheduled for the 2023 end," a hospital official said.
