A delegation of advocates led by Ravindra Sharma met Satyadev Pachauri, MP, on Friday and demanded that social security schemes be implemented for advocates all over the country. He handed over a memorandum to Pachauri, informing him about the demands made by the delegation. Sharma said that 75 years had passed since India's independence, but there is no social security scheme for advocates due to which they are forced to work until their last breath. "For the social security of advocates at the national level, the advocate pension scheme bill should be tabled in the Lok Sabha in its coming session under which a provision should be made to provide lifetime amount of Rs 15,000 per month to the advocates who have legal practice of 35 years or have attained 60 years of age on the condition of their retirement," said Sharma. He also demanded implementation of the advocates welfare fund scheme under which an amount of Rs 10 lakh should be payable to advocates who have been members of the bar for 30 years. The young advocates promotion scheme should also be implemented under which an amount of Rs 10,000 per month be given to young advocates after their registration for the first 5 years until the age of 30 years.
