A dog was allegedly shot dead by a local in kanpur, India, on Saturday. A funeral procession was taken out for the dog on Sarvodaya Nagar area of the city on Saturday. Two dogs were shot by a local, Gyanendra Sharma, on Thursday night. One dog died instantly, and the other dog with serious wounds is undergoing treatment at a city veterinary hospital. An FIR was lodged against Gyanendra Sharma at the Kakadeo Police Station. The locals said that the dogs were barking near the house of Gyanendra Sharma, irked over which he opened indiscriminate firing leaving one dead and other injured. Irate locals of the area protested outside the Kakadeo Police Station on Friday later on the complaint of mountaineer Gudiya Thakur. The police registered a case against Gyanendra Sharma. The dog's postmortem took place on Saturday. A huge number of animal lovers reached the locality and took out the funeral procession of the dog. "The people were carrying placards with a message not to act insane towards innocent animals," said Rajnish a local joint commissioner of police. "An FIR has been registered, and further action is being taken."
