How to get into these Southern California museums for free on Feb. 5

Dozens of local museums will be open free to the public on Sunday, Feb. 5 as part of the Museums Free-for-All Day.

More than 30 museums are participating including The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), the recently-opened Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, the Japanese American National Museum and the La Brea Tar Pits & Museum.

The event is organized by SoCal Museums, a marketing group consisting of museum representatives with the aim of getting people into the museums and reminding them that several of these facilities offer other free day visits and events throughout the year, too.

“We hope this will be an opportunity to both revisit old favorites and see new exhibitions or to try somewhere new,” said Briana Sapp, president of SoCal Museums, in a statement.

This offer is for general admission only and doesn’t include ticketed entry into special exhibitions. Some museums require advance registration and parking is not included.
