Three Bridges kicking goals on the coast

With an 80 per cent clearance rate and just under $2.5 million raised from their eight lots sold so far this week, Three Bridges are certainly making their presence felt at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

The Liston family are rightly proud of their achievements and the hard work which has produced some outstanding results, highlighted by the $850,000 sale of their Toronado colt to the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

That was the second Toronado colt bred on the farm to go under the hammer, with Lot 73 (Toronado x Lope de Field) heading west to join the Adam Durrant stable for $230,000.

Three Bridges has always been very keen to support Victorian stallions, with fillies by Rosemont Stud’s Shamus Award ($320,000), Yulong’s Written Tycoon ($200,000) and Darley Northwood Park’s newcomer Blue Point ($100,000) amongst their elite draft.

“After a slightly patchy start things have started to heat up over the past couple of days,” said Toby Liston.

“We’ve been selling to some amazing people, and whilst the sale price is obviously important we’re just as keen to see our horses find a good home, which is what they’ve done.

“It’s the first year that all our foals have been born and raised naturally on the farm at Three Bridges, so there are no outliers or pinhooks in our draft. We passionately believe in our product, and so far the results have spoken for themselves.

“It’s great to see the vendors and the purchasers largely meeting the market, and we’re hopeful that can continue tomorrow.”

Three Bridges’ last two Lots are 829 (Blue Point x Enchanted Dawn) and 840 (Invader x Euryale), with Liston confident the hard-working team can end a busy week on a high note.
