Horror moment terrified Brit tourist finds giant 12ft SNAKE swimming in hotel pool sending staff into frenzy
BRITISH tourists in Thailand were terrified to discover a giant snake having an evening dip in their hotel pool.
The holidaymakers took to TikTok to share their encounter with the 12 foot slimy reptile.
Social media creator Elisabeth Elektra posted the video after watching the spectacular standoff between hotel staff and the disco-dancing snake.
The viral footage shows the beast lit up by the pool’s colour-changing lights as it squirms away from the advances of a hotel employee.
Armed with a small net, the man tries unsuccessfully to catch the slippery snake.
It seems the battle was finally won as the video informs viewers that “hotel staff moved it to safety, one of them stroked its head as they took it away to reassure it.”
The video, which has rapidly garnered over 30k likes, has been putting off snake-fearing online users from visiting the country.
“Yep, looks like I’m not going to Thailand,” responded one user.
Another added: “OFFICIALLY DELETED FROM MY HOLIDAY LIST”
Others joked: “The snake is also on a vacation.”
Thailand is home to over 200 species of snake, and sightings of the reticulated python – the longest snake in the world – are not infrequent.
In the sprawling capital of Bangkok, for example, snakes are a big problem for the city.
Firefighters respond to between 50 and 100 calls a day to remove the creatures.
By fighting more snakes than fires, they have been dubbed the “snake hunters” of Bangkok.
The city’s international airport was been built on land that is known by some as the “swamp of cobras”.
A name it has earned due to the amount of snakes that have found their way into passenger’s luggage over the years.
Always lurking, snakes are more likely to enter people’s homes during colder or rainy weather to seek shelter and food.
As the city continues to expand its perimeters, encroaching on the scaly reptile’s homes, snake’s encounters are on the rise.
