Waterloo Road fans all say the same thing as iconic character make surprise comeback
WATERLOO Road fans have been left in agreement after one of the drama’s most iconic characters returned to the show.
Janeece Bryant, played by Chelsee Healey, surprised viewers when she made a big entrance on Tuesday night.
The former Waterloo Road pupil, who later became the school secretary, was seen pulling up in a taxi to pal Chlo Charles’ funeral.
Running late and shouting at the driver, Janeece’s arrival left fans thrilled despite the emotion of the episode.
The character, dressed in a cutout LBD, huge faux fur coat and dark sunglasses, even went on to save the day after Chlo’s widower Donte (Adam Thomas) ran out of her funeral.
Taking to Twitter, fans shared their delight at seeing Janeece back on the newly rebooted BBC school drama.
One tweeted: “There’s no better way to introduce Janeece!”
Another added: “Love having Janeece back for Chlo’s funeral and showing up right when needed. Wouldn’t have been right without her. #WaterlooRoad.”
A third chimed in: “I was wondering when Janeece would make an appearance! So glad!”
Someone else added: “Janeece walking straight in to deliver a classic Janeece moment. Love to see it.”
And a fifth chimed in: “I’ve missed Janeece so much!”
Waterloo Road returned to screens last week following a eight-year hiatus.
Actress Chelsee had starred in the show since the beginning in 2006 , taking on the role of mouthy pupil Janeece.
Janeece bowed out after series four, but returned for series six as the school secretary.
The character was pregnant at the time and initially decided to hand her baby Cheryl over to food tech teacher Ruby Fry and her husband, as they could not have children.
But Janeece later changed her mind and kept Cheryl, leaving at the end of the series eight in 2013 to move to Ibiza with her daughter and mother.
Fans are now hoping Chelsee’s character will once again become a permanent fixture in the reboot.
At the end of Tuesday’s episode, she was seen saying goodbye to Donte and his children, Izzie and Tommy.
Donte asked when she will be back and, hinting at a return, Janeece replied: “Even without Chlo, I do miss this place…”
