Damar Hamlin is getting a lot of love and support, including his charitable endeavors.
On Monday (January 2), the 24-year-old player collapsed to the ground after tackling Tee Higgins. He was treated on the field for more than 10 minutes by the medical team, who reportedly administered oxygen and used an AED before the player was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
The Buffalo Bills safety’s online initiative, a toy drive GoFundMe launched in 2020, has since raised $3.6 million in donations following the on-field collapse.

“The fundraiser topped $74,000 just one hour after Hamlin’s collapse and quickly grew to $2,033,270 just before 1 a.m. ET Tuesday, then soared to more than $3 million just an hour and twenty minutes later with more than 119,000 donations,” CNN reports.
The toy drive was started a goal of $2,500. It’s received over 141,000 donations.
“As I embark on my journey to the NFL, I will never forget where I come from and I am committed to using my platform to positively impact the community that raised me. I created The Chasing M’s Foundation as a vehicle that will allow me to deliver that impact,” he wrote on the GoFundMe.
“Thank you so much for supporting me on and off the field. I am grateful to have the opportunity to work with you to help make the holiday season a little brighter for the kids in our community.”
The Buffalo Bills released a statement about his condition.
