Tom Brady has faced his fair share of challenges and opinions.
The 45-year-old quarterback opened up about how he has dealt with people’s opinions of him and when he should retire.
“There’s a lot of outside noise and I know people [say], ‘Tom, you should have retired. You should have done this, you should have done that.’ You know, and that’s okay. People can have a lot of feelings or opinions and so forth, he said.

“But I think, for me, there’s always gratification when you make this commitment and you have a group of individuals that do the same and you see something pay off. And that’s what life’s about. A lot of resilience, overcoming different obstacles over the course of the year, and then ultimately coming together for a common goal. That’s why I love team sports,” Tom said on the Let’s Go! podcast.
When asked by Jim Gray whether doubt ever crept in, Tom said, “I don’t do that. And I think, and I learned this a while ago, there’s a lot of things that are said outside of your own, what’s between your ears.”
“Obviously, what’s between your ears and what you tell yourself is the most important thing,” Tom continued. “And I think people said earlier this year, ‘Oh, he doesn’t look like he’s having fun,’ and ‘He doesn’t want to be out there,’ and ‘He doesn’t want to play,’ and all that. What’s between my ears is more important than that. And I think that’s a good lesson for everybody. You’re always gonna face critics. You’re gonna face people that have their own opinions. And the opinion you have of yourself is the one that matters most.”
Tom and Gisele released statements in October 2022 announcing that they had split and that their divorce has been finalized.
