THE Masked Singer fans reckon they have Knitting’s identity unpicked.
Many have speculated the colourful character is Claire Richards from Steps – an assumption compounded by her bandmate H’s recent TikTok videos.
The Masked Singer fans are convinced they have unpicked the identity of Knitting[/caption]Others have suggested Girls Aloud singer Cheryl is behind the pink a ball of wool skewered by two knitting needles.
In her The Masked Singer videotape, Knitting had a Lancastrian accent and hinted at a connection with the world of theatre.
They also walked past a magpie, the bird that is famously associated with Newcastle.
The character described themselves as being like a “big warm hello and cuddle”.
And she “promised not to string you along”.
Knitting’s final riddle was: “Knitting is easy, it’s the crossing of sticks. Count all of your stitches, there should 26.”
Fans believed this to be a link to the London Marathon – which tallies at 26.2 miles – which Doctor Who star Jodie Whittaker, 40, ran in 2012 for charity Mencap.
One fan took to Twitter to write: “Knitting is already sounding like Jodie Whittaker #MaskedSingerUK,” as a second put: “Knitting = Jodie Whittaker #MaskedSingerUK.”
A third then wrote: “The Masked Singer – I’m calling it now. Jodie Whittaker is ‘Knitting’ #maskedsinger #MaskedSingerUK.”
One then added: “Knitting is Jodie Whittaker I think #MaskedSingerUK.”
The first episode revealed the 12 new celebrity contestants singing from behind their masks.
Knitting was joined by Ghost, Otter, Jellyfish, Phoenix and duo Cat and Mouse in the first group stage.
Knitting found themselves in the bottom three – and could be at risk of elimination if they fail to impress later on.
There are still more characters to face the music, though – including Jacket Potato, Piece of Cake, Pigeon, Rhino and Rubbish.
The Masked Singer continues next Saturday at 6.30pm on ITV.
