#LAKings Reign Recap: Ontario Falls Short To Coachella In Offensive Duel (MayorsManor)
Ontario was on the losing end of a back and forth offensive battle, falling to Coachella 7-6.
The Reign got themselves off to a quick start, scoring a pair of goals within the first four minutes of the game. Austin Wagner potted his third of the season, deflecting a shot by Jacob Moverare. Just over a minute later, Alex Turcotte shot one off the pad of the Firebird goalie Joey Daccord, and landed right on Samuel Fagemos stick, who slammed it out of mid air into the open cage. However, Coachella answered with one of their own before Turcotte redirected a feed from Martin Chromiak for a goal on the man-advantage. Coachella was able to stay in the game with a power play goal of their own, before Lias Andersson capped off the six-goal first period with a snipe from the inside of the left circle, placing it in the top right corner of the net.
Despite the loss, Turcotte was a force Wednesday night, tallying both a goal and an assist. The 21-year-old was aggressive on the forecheck, creating many offensive opportunities.
Wagner netted his second of the evening in the middle period after receiving a long pass from Tobias Bjornfot. Coachella would answer with a pair of their own to get within one. In the dying minutes of the period, T.J. Tynan was left all alone in front of the net, and went backhand-forehand before firing one past the netminder to regain the two-goal lead.
The third period changed the game as the lead quickly faded away as Coachella notched three unanswered goals to win the game, including the game winning goal coming with just over a minute left in regulation.
Cal Petersen was in goal for the Reign and stopped 31 of the 38 shots that he faced on the night.
For the second straight game, Ontario has blown leads in the final period, and have now lost three straight.
