CROWDS have braved the cold to take a Boxing Day splash in beaches across Britain.
Keen swimmers swapped their Christmas outfits for bathing suits to head into the water, despite the freezing conditions.
Group swimming events took place in England, Wales and Scotland.
Eager beachgoers were seen diving into the cold water in Perranporth, north Cornwall despite temperatures falling to 8C.
While there weren’t many wearing wetsuits, some were yet to shake off their festive outfits just yet.
Santa hats, reindeer antlers and Christmas-themed attire could be spotted across different beaches.
Thousands participate in the big dip each year, with people gathering in Tynemouth, north-east England, Deal in Kent, Pembrey and Tenby in Wales, North Yorkshire as well as parts of Scotland.
Participants were spotted in fancy dress costumes to take the plunge in Cromer.
The North Norfolk Beach Runners held their Boxing Day Dip for the first time for three years after the annual event was cancelled for two years due to Covid.
In Dorset, hundreds of Boxing Day swimmers turned up for the annual West Bay Wallow on Dorset’s Jurassic coast.
The Boxing Day dip also took place in the cold, rough Thames Estuary at Southend on Sea.
Funds were being raised for the local Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
Around 400 people took to the water which was around 6C.
Even more people were seen waiting for the start of the 50th Boxing Day sea swim at Tenby, Wales.
A swimmer at Jubilee Beach at Marine Parade in Essex appeared unbothered by the cold as she posed for the camera by showing off her strong arms.
Beachgoers also ignored the weather for a midwinter dip on Christmas day.
Swarms of people ditched their clothes and plunged into the icy waters in festive celebration at Coney Beach, Wales.
Every year thousands head to their nearest beach to take part in the Christmas tradition.
And the annual swim in Porthcawl saw many happily turn up in festive swim costumes.
This year some had been swimming in the freezing water to raise money.
Caroline and Steph Adams from Bridgend wore Santa-themed swimsuits while taking the icy plunge.
