Even as Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) is making best of its efforts to clean the city, the city's lifeline Tapi river - and Narmad Sarovar in it - has turned into a stinking waterbody. One cannot stand for a few minutes on the weir-cum-causeway. Narmad Sarovar is the only source of drinking water for Surat.
