Man shot and killed at San Francisco BART station; suspects sought
SAN FRANCISCO — Two suspects were being sought in the fatal shooting Sunday afternoon of a man at the 24th Street/Mission BART Station, authorities said.
The victim was a 27-year-old San Francisco man whose name has not yet been released, authorities said
The shooting was reported about 4:07 p.m. Sunday in the plaza above the station. The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:08 p.m.
Two suspects fled the scene. BART police were working with San Francisco police to identify and arrest them, BART spokesman Chris Filippi said.
A motive for the shooting has not been determined and police have not yet said if the victim knew the suspects.
Filippi said video surveillance from the plaza area was being reviewed by investigators. He said surveillance video has played an important role in helping BART police to identify violent individuals in many recent cases, and officials are hopeful it will help investigators to find these suspects.
The killing is the fourth homicide investigated by BART police this year, Filippi said. There were no homicides on BART properties last year.
