I found an envelope hidden in a piece of art at Goodwill – the contents were worth a million dollars but I’m not rich
A WOMAN who loves to thrift has found her million dollar find, but it hasn’t made her rich.
She found the old money inside of a Chinese New Year envelope.
Al Pal is a 23-year-old digital content creator under the handle @dardooodle.
She showed viewers how she found the million dollar item in a popular thrift store.
“I still can’t believe what I found at Goodwill today,” she wrote.
The Chinese red envelope was taped to the back of a piece of art.
The envelopes are customarily given on Chinese New Year and often contain money as a gift.
“Tell me why inside I found a legitimate check,” she wrote.
The thrifter pulled out a check from the envelope and revealed the amount.
The check was made out for $1m, but was of no value to her as it was from 2006 and well past the expiry date.
Al Pal did her due diligence and looked up the name on the check which belonged to a woman named Shelia.
She messaged Shelia about her million dollar find on Facebook, which she revealed in another video.
Shelia’s response stunned Al Pal and much to her surprise she did not want the envelope back.
She specified that she and her husband used to write each other million dollar manifestation checks on Chinese New Year.
She also specified that they had since moved out of state and donated a lot of items to Goodwill.
“Just don’t try to cash it,” Shelia warned. “Because you won’t find money in that account.”
The video comes as part of a trend where people find items in Goodwill worth more than they bargained for.
