Von der Leyen warns EU of potential gas shortages in 2023
The head of the EC said that the EU may face a shortage of up to 30 billion cubic meters of gas in 2023.
EU countries may face a shortage of up to 30 billion cubic meters of gas next year, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said at a press conference.
“Despite the measures we are taking, we may face a shortage of up to 30 billion cubic meters of gas next year,” she said at a joint press conference with IEA head Fatih Birol.
Western countries stepped up sanctions pressure against Russia after the start of a special military operation. This has led to higher prices for electricity, fuel and food in Europe and the US.
