Australian University organizes annual blood donation campaign
KUWAIT: Continuing its efforts towards social responsibility, the Australian University-Kuwait organized its fifth annual blood donation campaign under the slogan ‘With your blood, life flows’ at its campus for three days. The first and second days were for staff and students at the university. On the third day, parents donated to increase participation as well as to give social opportunities for those intending to donate.
The event was planned by the health and safety department at the university with the help of students who volunteered to participate in organizing the event and register donators. This was done under the supervision of the head of the department Mariam Al-Maraghi. The campaign gained an educational benefit on top of its humanitarian benefit, as donators were given information about health principles and the benefits of donating blood through brochures that were distributed.
“The organization of the campaign with the participation of students gave them the opportunities to learn skills relating to self-reliability and handling clients. We believe in the value of students as an inseparable part of the learning organization, which entitles us to instill the passion of giving and humanitarian belief towards their siblings in humanity,” Maraghi said, shedding the light on the positive effects of the campaign.
