‘Getting a bit tired of him’ – Pundit claims he is ‘disappointed’ in Harry Kane
Simon Jordan has criticised Harry Kane for his tendency to drop deep, insisting that he would much rather see the striker in and around the penalty box.
Despite leading the assists charts at the World Cup after the group stages with three to his name, Kane was coming under criticism from many pundits ahead of the knockout stages.
Danny Murphy called for the England captain to be dropped if the team were not playing to his strengths (Daily Mail) while Tony Adams said that he, as centre-half, would find it easy to deal with the Tottenham man since he does not look to run beyond the backline (The Sun).
Kane delivered a masterclass in England’s 3-0 win over Senegal in the round of 16 stage, with the Tottenham man not just getting on the scoresheet but also being heavily involved in most of the Three Lions’ attacks.
One would have thought the 29-year-old had shut his critics up with that display but that is not the case, with Jordan now becoming the latest person to take aim at the striker for dropping too deep.
The former Crystal Palace owner told talkSPORT: “I don’t think it will be Harry Kane. I’m somewhat disappointed in Harry Kane, albeit you can’t criticise St Harry because of the position that he holds. But I’m getting a bit tired of him playing central midfield. I’d much prefer he held the line up top.”

If you ask any manager in world football, they would wax lyrical about Kane for his ability to drop deep and play as a nine-and-a-half while also being able to deliver goals. That is what separates the Tottenham man from almost any other centre-forward in the world.
It is ridiculous that the 29-year-old is actually getting criticised for something that he is doing for the benefit of the team. If he were selfish, he would just hog the penalty box and look to capitalise on chances that come his way.
