Boy, 12, killed on e-scooter after crash with bus outside McDonald’s
A 12-year-old boy has been killed in a bus crash while riding an electric scooter.
The schoolboy was near a McDonald’s in Bordesley Green, Birmingham, when the crash happened just before 8am today (Tuesday).
West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances and two paramedic officers to the scene.
They found the boy with life-threatening injuries and in a ‘critical condition.’
He died at the scene. Nobody from the bus needed treatment, the service added.
Police said this morning’s collison has resulted in an ‘awful tragedy’.
Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from West Midlands Police’s serious collision investigation unit, said: ‘
Det Sgt Paul Hughes, of our serious collision investigation unit, said: ‘This is an awful tragedy for the young boy’s family and friends, and our thoughts are with them at this time.
‘We’ve spoken to a number of witnesses, but still want to hear from any of the passengers on the bus who we’ve not yet spoken to, or from people who may have captured what happened on dashcam.
‘If people do have footage, we’d ask them not to share it on social media but to send it to us so that we can help establish exactly what happened.’
