Four major fibs in Meghan Markle and Harry’s Netflix doc exposed as experts slam plot to ‘destroy monarchy with lies’
HARRY and Meghan have been lambasted after four major fibs in their new Netflix docuseries were exposed by royal experts.
Palace watchers accused the Sussexes of attempting to “destroy the monarchy with lies” over the pair’s claims of press intrusion.
Fury erupted after a string of photos and footage alleging to show the couple getting hounded by the press appeared in a second trailer for the long awaited £88-million show.
But it transpired much of this was misleading – with some examples of intrusion having no relation to Harry and Meghan whatsoever.
The first included a photo of a camera pointing down at Harry, Meghan and son Archie, 3, during a visit to Cape Town.
The Evening Standard’s royal editor Robert Johnson, who shared the snap as he was there, said it came from a pool of three UK royal reporters who were given the green light by Harry and Meghan.
He branded Netflix’s efforts to suggest press intrusion “a complete travesty”.
A second photo used by the streaming giant shows dozens of camera lenses clamouring for a photo.
But The Sun revealed the misleading snap was in fact from a 2011 Harry Potter premiere, years before the pair even met.
A third piece of footage in the dubious trailer pulls the same trick – appearing to show the couple being followed by paparazzi.
The clip had nothing to do with the California-based duo – it was in fact Katie Price arriving at Crawley Magistrates Court in 2021.
A fourth example throws up a similar piece of footage, suggesting yet more press intrusion – but these are scenes of former President Trump getting mobbed.
Royal expert Angel Levin told The Sun the efforts by Netflix were “beyond shocking” and there is “no way back for Harry”.
She added: “Meghan and Harry are all out to destroy the monarchy and everybody in it.
“How much more bashing can he do? Hasn’t he done enough?”
Speaking to MailOnline, royal author Richard Fitzwilliams branded the docuseries an “amazing act of revenge designed to weaken the institution”.
He claimed the impact of it will be felt for “years” and further “widen the rift between the brothers”.
The latest trailer follows a previous 59-second ad where Meghan can be seen wiping tears as Harry looks distressed.
A raft of previously unseen photos of the pair are also shown, including romantic selfies and one of Harry strumming a guitar.
At the start of the clip, the pair are asked: “Why did you want to make this documentary?”
Harry says: “Nobody sees what’s happening behind closed doors. I had to do everything I could to protect my family.”
And, Meghan says: “When the stakes are this high doesn’t it make more sense to hear our story from us?”
The show is said to give an insight into the pair’s “love story” and will be streamed from December 8.
The couple are understood to have wanted to push the controversial TV series back to 2023 amid backlash over the new series of The Crown.
The release of the series comes as Prince Harry’s explosive £35 million memoir ‘Spare’ is due out January 10.
The Sun Online have approached Netflix for comment.
