ITV viewers watching the World Cup are furious over a blunder which has left many fans struggling to watch the action.
A kit mix-up in the Switzerland vs Cameroon game this afternoon meant that colourblind people – roughly three million Brits – were unable to tell the difference between the two teams.
Colourblindness, or colour vision deficiency, comes in different variations and means a person struggles to identify and distinguish between certain colours.
Today’s match saw Switzerland wear a red kit – meanwhile Cameroon wore a green kit.
Most people with colour vision deficiency have difficulty distinguishing between shades of red, yellow and green.
This is known as “red-green” colour vision deficiency.
According to the NHS, it affects 1 in 200 women in the world and 1 in 12 men in the world, equating to 2.7 million people in Britain – about 4.5 per cent of the population.
Colourblind fans took to social media today to talk of their frustration.
One moaned: “Switzerland v Cameroon is an absolute stinker from a colourblind perspective.
“They’re in red and green. Imagine you were watching on a black and white TV. One team should be light. One team should be dark. Not that hard.”
Another said: “Cameroon Vs Switzerland in green Vs red. I’m colourblind so for me it’s yellow socks Vs the other socks.”

A third fumed: “Given that I can’t tell these Cameroon/Switzerland kits apart I’m assuming they’re red & green.
“It’s 2022 and teams still being allowed to wear red & green kits is p**s poor.”
Fifa could have solved the problem by asking one of the teams to wear their white away kits.
Colour vision deficiency is usually passed on from parents and is present at birth, but it can develop later in life.
Most people are able to adapt to the vision problem and it is rarely a sign of anything serious.
Total colourblindness, meaning a person is unable to see any colour, is very rare.
