My five-year-old son has long blonde hair & I even braid it, people say he’ll get bullied but I don’t care, he loves it
A MUM who braids her five-year-old son’s long blonde hair into plaits for school has responded to trolls who say he’ll get bullied – and insists it’s OK for boys to have long locks, too.
Charlie Hayes, who posts under the acronym @churchofstrawberry, took to TikTok and posted a video of her adorable son Jasper, whose long hair can be seen neatly braided into two plaits.
In the clip, which has since gone viral, Charlie can be heard saying to her son: “You look so beautiful, do you love your hair?
“Do you like the new plaits Mummy did? Do you want to have them again like this tomorrow?”
Beaming, an excited Jasper replies: “Yeah!”
She then asks: “Why have you got long hair?”

Without hesitation, Jasper responds: “Because I like long hair.”
He then goes on to say how he thinks long hair looks better on boys than short hair, before agreeing he thinks he’s got “the best hair in the world.”

The post has since racked up a whopping 897,000 views and been flooded with comments.
“I think my 3 yr old would disagree (he thinks HE has the best hair in the world) it’s blonde and very long & curly.. #boyswithlonghair,” wrote one.

In response, Charlie shared a second video and explained: “I do get asked this so much and obviously it’s something I’ve battled with in my own head and I’ve worried about all the time.
“I don’t want him to ever feel like he has to change who he is because of other people being cruel to him.
“But fortunately, just as I predicted, I’ve raised a strong little boy who literally does not give a f*** what people think.
“That may not be forever but as of now it is.
“He has a choice and I have thoroughly explained to him why people think he’s a girl quite a lot and why people might be mean to him.”
She continues: “I’ve offered him the alternative of cutting his hair to make things peaceful and he’s always declined his offer. It’s his choice at the end of the day!
“If it gets too much for him and he wants to cut it, he’s more than welcome to do so.
“Kids get bullied for everything – from being poor, having freckles, being ginger, being ugly – kids get bullied, it happens.
“Him being bullied for him having long hair is probably one of the more gentle things.”
