SAN JOSE — A small plane landed hard on an airport runway Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
According to a Federal Aviation Administration spokesman, a single-engine Cessna 152 was flying near Reid-Hillview Airport when it began coming down shortly before 3:30 p.m.
The fixed-wing plane’s nose gear collapsed when it landed with only its pilot on board, and the FAA will investigate the incident, the spokesman said.
According to preliminary flight records, the plane had taken off at 3:22 p.m. from the airport in its fourth flight of the weekend after three uneventful takeoffs and landings Saturday.
There were no initial reports of injuries. A San Jose Fire Department public information officer did not immediately return a call about a firefighter response to the incident.
