Justin Fields might be one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks/playmakers right now, but he can’t do it all himself. Sunday afternoon saw the young signal-caller tear up the Lions — complete with trademark wizardry running the ball — in yet another brilliant performance (314 yards from scrimmage, two passing touchdowns, two rushing touchdowns).
But despite Fields’ continued individual brilliance, the Bears blew a late 24-10 lead and eventually lost 31-30 to the rival Lions. The defeat not only gave the Bears their third-straight loss but also sent them to the bottom of the putrid NFC North with a 3-7 record.
Despite his doing everything to carry the Bears, this reality didn’t appear to sit well with Fields. In the post-game locker room, the young quarterback reportedly sat at his locker — while still in his uniform — for at least 45 minutes in silence.

What Fields was actually thinking was anyone’s best guess, but it’s fair to assume he wasn’t happy in the least about Chicago falling short again. This does not seem to be a young man happy that he’s stuffing the stat sheet while his team still loses.
Given that he’s an elite competitor, it’s probably tough for Fields to stomach all the Bears’ defeats. If it’s any consolation, a clean slate in 2023 is starting to look bright. Maybe he won’t sit silently much at his locker next season.
