Nine injured after hot air balloon crashes in the Alps
Nine people have been injured after a hot air balloon crashed in the eastern edge of the Alps in Austria.
Emergency services raced to the scene today.
Sonja Kellner, of the Lower Austrian Red Cross, told news agency APA that the crash took place in the Bucklige Welt region, an area known for its particularly hilly landscape.
Four injured passengers were found at Untereck, while five passengers were found with more minor injuries near Stang, about three miles away.
The cause of the crash is currently unknown.
A helicopter was deployed to take two seriously injured passengers to local hospitals.
Last month, two people died and three others were hurt after a hot air balloon made a crash landing in Turkey.
The Spanish victims were killed after the accident in the central Cappadocia region, where millions of tourists go sightseeing every year.
There were 28 tourists and two crew members on board when the balloon made a hard landing after the tour of volcanic rock formations.
