Jeffree Star Quits YouTube & Talks About The Video Platform's Declining Popularity
Jeffree Star is moving on from YouTube.
The 36-year-old beauty guru and brand owner has nearly 16 million subscribers and more than 2.5 billion views on his channel, which has been active since early 2006.
However, he announced plans to step back from the platform during an episode of his new docu-series with fellow YouTuber Shane Dawson.

“It might be time to hang up my button,” Jeffree said near the end of the second episode of the series. “Two more videos, and then I’m done.”
He explained a bit about his decision.
“No one watches it anymore,” he said of the platform. “There’s literally no point for me to do it anymore because no one watches. No one cares.”
“No one cares about YouTube. Not one single person goes to watch her for enjoyment or fun anymore that I know,” Jeffree added.
He also talked about what he accomplished over the years: “I already did it all. I did every makeup review, every tutorial, every surgery. Every… we did f-cking makeup in hot air ballons and f-cking on a raft in Montana.”
“I already did it all, so it’s time to hang up my f-cking hat and focus on other things,” he said before adding that “YouTube sucks.”
Earlier in the episode, he discussed the rising popularity of TikTok, where Jeffree has begun posting content. “People don’t go to YouTube to see reveals, they just go to TikTok,” he explained.
He added that he prefers long-form content that he did on YouTube but acknowledged that the newer app is more for “instant gratification.”
