Journalist outlines scheduling problem for Spurs after Champions League draw
ESPN journalist, Dale Johnson, has outlined a big problem for Tottenham and the Premier League following the Champions League Round of 16 draw this morning.
Spurs were drawn against AC Milan in the first knockout round of Europe’s premier tournament, what it wasn’t so much who they were drawn against but when they were drawn that could cause an issue.
During the Round of 16 phase, Champions League matches are played on alternating weeks. This means Tottenham play their first leg away to AC Milan on February 14th, before welcoming them to North London two weeks later on March 8th.
Unfortunately, Manchester City play on the alternate week to Spurs, visiting RB Leipzig on February 22 before welcoming them to Manchester on March 14.
According to Johnson, this leaves ‘no natural vacant slot’ for Tottenham to play their rearranged fixture away to Man City, which was postponed following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. The same problem has also occurred for Chelsea and Liverpool and their fixture.
Bad news for the Premier League!
There is now no natural vacant slot in the schedule to put the postponed Chelsea vs. Liverpool and Manchester City vs. Tottenham Hotspur games.

Spurs Web Opinion:
Every problem with scheduling this season can be traced to the World Cup in the middle of the campaign. Unfortunately, money and greed has been placed above the domestic leagues and player welfare.
