The men's and women's cross country teams traveled north to compete in the GPAC Cross Country Championships. The Lancers continued to show progress under head coach Dan Fitzsimmons.
The Mount Marty Lancers had 10 runners with career-high place finishes at the GPAC XC Championships! The men's squad finished in 6th place which equals their highest standing since joining the conference. Cristobal Gonzalez and Tague Tvedt led the men finishing in 23rd & 24th place respectively. Tvedt was the 5th highest freshmen finisher in the field. Caden Ideker finished in a career-best 32nd place at the championships. Carson Means and Brian Santiago rounded out the scoring for the men.
In the women's race, the Lancers finished 8th in the team race. Kiah Trainor (JR/Rapid City, SD) was the Lancer's top finisher. Jordyn Fischer (SO/Beresford, SD), Emily Johnson (SO/Rapid City, SD), Leighton Mlady (SR/Atkinson, NE), and Grace Holys (FR/Columbus, NE) rounded out Mount Marty's top five scorers. Both teams placed a spot higher than a year ago.
