The Who legend Roger Daltrey repeatedly turned down being a mentor on big TV talent show

ROCK and pop legends can make a mint appearing on reality TV shows such as The Voice.

For a couple of months’ work, stars including Sir Tom Jones, Kylie Minogue and Boy George have been paid millions.

But that will never be enough to persuade The Who icon Roger Daltrey, who says he’s turned ITV down several times.

In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, he revealed: “They wanted me to be a judge and I just wouldn’t do it.

“I’m not gonna judge anyone’s singing – you’re only gonna squash their spirit.”

He has a point, really – just don’t tell “Nasty” Nigel Lythgoe that.

Roger’s comments come after The Voice’s most recent winner, Anthonia Edwards, failed to trouble the top 100 with her cover of Justin Bieber’s Anyone..

SAM AND PETE'S BIG IDEA

BETWEEN them, Sam Thomspon and Pete Wicks have featured on almost every reality TV show going.

But far from being ashamed, the lads reckon these shows have prepared them to launch a format all of their own.

A source told me: “Sam and Pete have come up with a dating show format and are in talks with a number of production companies.

“Nothing’s been signed, but bosses are starting to make offers.”

Having started out on E4’s Made In Chelsea in 2014, Sam’s gone on to Celebrity Big Brother and SAS: Who Dares Wins.

Pete’s 2015 Towie debut led to MasterChef and The Circle.

Let’s hope their big idea helps get them behind the camera for once!

WALTZ UP, MIRIAM?

TELLY’S very oddest couple, Miriam Margolyes and Alan Cumming, hit the dancefloor – as the actors’ hilarious road trip show returns.

Second series Lost In Scotland And Beyond starts with fun aplenty.

As a Universal Life Church minister, Scotsman Alan is asked to conduct an LGBTQ+ wedding at Loch Lomond. Miriam delivers a reading, from The Owl And The Pussy-Cat, before the pair boogie.

Their first series was fab so I can’t wait for them to rev up the van again.

Tune in on Tuesday at 9.15pm on Channel 4.
