I’m 17 and my parents moved me from London to Nigeria and won’t let me go back
DEAR DEIDRE: I AGREED to move to Nigeria with my parents on the understanding that I would return to the UK in the summer.
But they then told me they’ve changed their minds and want me to stay here permanently.

I’m a 17-year-old boy and have lived in London since I was two.
I only have basic knowledge of the language here, I don’t have any friends and the culture and everyday life is so different.
I want to have a career in social work but there aren’t the opportunities here.
I’ve tried talking to my parents, but they told me their decision is final. They don’t care about how I feel.

As I’m not 18 I’m not sure if I can do anything about it.
I literally feel like I’m worth nothing and nobody cares.
DEIDRE SAYS: I’m no Nigerian law expert, but you may be able to come back to the UK to live if you have citizenship.
This isn’t an easy thing to do without support, though, especially if you’re still in education.
