Man stabbed to death outside village pub on Bonfire Night
A man in his 30s has been stabbed to death outside a village pub in Kent on Bonfire Night.
Police were called to the Cricketers Inn, in Meopham, before 9.15pm to reports of two men being assaulted.
The first victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second was rushed to a hospital in London where he remains in a stable condition.
A 29-year-old man and a 50-year-old man were later arrested on suspicion of murder.
The men involved are all believed to be known to each other.
At this stage, police say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the investigation.
Wrotham Road, where the incident happened, is currently closed at Meopham Green, while detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate are making enquiries.
Another pub, opposite the Cricketers Inn, has also been forced to shut after the stabbing.
A statement on Facebook said: ‘Due to unforeseen circumstances and completely out of our control we have been instructed to close our pub today whilst police investigate a crime in our village.
‘This unfortunately means we cannot go ahead with todays reservations but we do look forward to welcoming you all back very soon.’
Kent Police is now appealing for witnesses of the stabbing.
