As part of the NWSL’s 2022 Championship week in the nation’s capital, the NWSL and Billie Jean King Enterprises hosted an event to honor the 50th anniversary of Title IX and provide a chance for a selection of the premier names in women’s sports to discuss the growth of the industry moving forward.
Known as ‘Score More for Title IX,’ the event took place at Washington, D.C.’s International Spy Museum located just a mile northwest of Audi Field. The summit included panel discussions on topics ranging from the importance of representation in the boardroom to the value of investment in women’s sports featuring Washington Spirit owner Michele Kang, Angel City FC leading investor Alexis Ohanian, Hall of Fame goalkeeper Briana Scurry and writer and activist Wade Davis.
During the panel on investment in women, Michele Kang offered insight into the Spirit’s search for a front-of-jersey sponsor: “We’re World Cup champions, gold medalists – I would never accept less than seven figures for the front of shirt sponsorship.”

“It was an incredible opportunity to be in a room with so many people focused on the future of women’s sports,” said Spirit community relations manager Zoe Wulff. “The folks that were in that room are changing the face of women’s sports and getting to meet them and learn from them in our home city was an invaluable opportunity. When people look back after the next 50 years, so many names of people in that room will be galvanized as people who changed the game for everyone who came after them.”
