Only six points separate the top three teams in the 2023 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Softball Preseason Poll. Head softball coaches picked UM-Dearborn as the favorite, awarding six first-place votes and a total of 135 points. It's the first time the Wolverines earned the top spot in a preseason poll.
Just one point sits between second-ranked Aquinas (130 points) and third-ranked Madonna (129 points) as both teams received three first-place votes. Madonna took the regular-season crown last year while UM-Dearborn marched to its first tournament title.
The league season gets started on March 25 with a full slate of games scheduled through the weekend. The winner of the regular season receives the WHAC's first of two automatic berths to the 2023 NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round.
