The Afghanistan Meteorological Department (AMD) has issued a warning for torrential downpours, snowfall, and flash floods that are forecasted to affect 17 central and northern provinces of Afghanistan.
In a newsletter published on Thursday, the meteorological agency of Afghanistan warned that the provinces of Herat, Ghor, Badghis, Faryab, Sar-e-pol, Jawzjan, Balkh, Samangan, Kunduz, Baghlan, Takhar, Badakhshan, Panjshir, Parwan, Bamyan, Wardak Square, and Daikandi may experience snowfall and heavy rains with flash floods over the next 24 hours.
The AMD has issued a warning that is in effect from Thursday, November 3 to Friday, November 4. The warning was prompted by the newly forecasted weather that may affect the 17 aforementioned provinces.
As a harsh winter season approaches, the forecast is for between 10 and 40 millimeters of rain and 5 to 15 cm of snow.
The AMD warning comes at a time when flash floods have killed numerous people, wrecked homes, and displaced families in several Afghan regions this year, including Kandahar, Ghazni, and Panjshir.
