Social media star Jake Paul will return to the boxing ring for his first fight of 2022 against former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. Paul vs. Silva will be a Showtime pay-per-view event airing October 29 at 9 p.m. ET from the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.
Paul remains undefeated through five official matches, with his last two wins coming over another former UFC champ, Tyron Woodley. Paul is 22 years younger than the 47-year-old Silva, but the more experienced fighter will likely be his most significant challenge since he began boxing in 2018.
Silva has a 3-1 record as a boxer to go alongside his 46 career fights in mixed martial arts. Silva returned to boxing in 2021 after his UFC contract ended. Since then, he defeated former WBC champion Julio César Chávez Jr. via split decision in June 2021 and knocked out fellow UFC veteran Tito Ortiz in September 2021.
The pay-per-view will also feature the professional boxing debuts of former NFL running back Le'Veon Bell and UFC veteran Uriah Hall. Bell knocked out fellow NFL veteran Adrian Peterson in a September exhibition, while Hall announced his retirement from mixed martial arts in August.
