Insider Hints One Team Might Be Sniffing Around Robert Quinn
The Chicago Bears delivered a tremendous win on Monday night in New England. It gave the team their first real positive vibes in a long time. Now suddenly, it feels like Ryan Poles and Matt Eberflus have this organization pointed in the right direction. What isn’t certain is what will happen six days from now when the NFL trade deadline arrives. It felt like the Bears were going to be sellers, trying to prepare for 2023. Guys like Robert Quinn, David Montgomery, and Eddie Jackson could be up for grabs. Did the win over the Patriots change that?
Poles indicated during his latest presser that the phones are open. He’s taking calls from any interested parties. That is his responsibility. Whether something happens depends entirely on if it’s something that benefits the Bears. So yes, there is a chance Quinn could be traded. However, the GM won’t give the veteran pass rusher away for pennies. Still, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, at least one team out there could make a move for Quinn.
It comes down to how good of a negotiator Poles is.
“The Eagles are always a factor at the trade deadline. GM Howie Roseman is on the attack this time of year, looking for bargains. Teams say the Eagles are looking for pass-rush help after the loss of Derek Barnett to injury. The top pass-rusher implicated in trade deals is Burns, but the Panthers have turned down massive offers, which is their way of saying they’re keeping him. (One GM told me the minimum trade package for Burns is two first-rounders, which is wild — and good for Burns’ contract extension projections).
Chicago’s Robert Quinn could be a good midrange option to consider here. But it’s noteworthy that Chicago made clear privately as of late last week that it wasn’t moving Quinn. Then, the Bears went ahead and rocked New England 33-14 to climb to 3-4. So, perhaps Chicago stays put on him.”

Robert Quinn controls part of this situation.
If he puts in a request to the Bears to be moved to a possible contender, it isn’t hard to imagine Poles granting the request. He’s 32 years old with few years left in football. The only thing missing in his career is a championship. The Philadelphia Eagles are a perfect landing spot. They are 6-0, the only undefeated team left in the league. They also run a 4-3 defense that fits his skillset perfectly. It comes down to what sort of compensation the Bears could get.
Philadelphia has five picks in the first four rounds of the 2023 draft, including two in the 1st. So they’re not hurting for ammunition to make a move. They have enough salary cap space to handle that Robert Quinn contract. One thing the Bears could do is agree to eat some of the money left on it, which would compel the Eagles to improve the draft compensation. That happened with Von Miller when Denver sent him to Los Angeles a year ago. It will be an interesting next few days.
